New International Bookshop

The New International BookShop (NIBS) in Melbourne’s historic Trades Hall building is one of Australia's very few progressive bookshops with a comprehensive range of new and second hand books on politics, alternative opinions and a progressive view on pressing world issues.
NIBS is run entirely on a dedicated volunteer basis. Our volunteers’ skills and experience add up to a comprehensive and impressive knowledge base of progressive literature, politics, history and campaigns, and much more. NIBS stocks magazines, newspapers, badges, stickers, flags and other goodies which support campaigns for peace, indigenous Australians rights, the environment, human rights, sexual freedom, equitable and sustainable development, and a great deal more. NIBS stocks many hard-to-find radical publications and books covering Australian and world politics and current affairs, political theory, peace studies, culture and philosophy, biographies, as well as great fiction and crime novels.
We also stock many progressive Australian authors of labour and trade union history, Australian and international history, and classic socialist and communist texts. Just go to the menus above to locate whatever your little red heart desires. Or use the search facility, above.
Jeff Sparrow is the co-author of Radical Melbourne: A Secret History and Radical Melbourne 2: The Enemy Within, and the author of Communism: A Love Story, which was shortlisted for the 2007 Colin Roderick Award. He is the editor of the Australian literary journal Overland and writes regularly for Crikey.
