"Slamalamadingdong is Australia's best regular slam event. I'd even go so far as to say it could be Australia's best all-round poety event," Luka Lesson.

This June we are offering the poets the chance to set the tone by keeping the slam open and theme-less with an Open Poetry Slam featuring Candy Royalle (Sydney) and 2012 Season Runner-Up Fury!

It's time to gather again and celebrate the strong voices and undeniable sense of camaraderie the Melbourne spoken word poetry scene has to offer... Slamalama style!

Get in on the love swamp action to see eight Poets battle it out and two SUPREME female features. The ladies are back!

1st place prize= $50 plus other cool professional development opportunities.

Rules of the Slam!

1. Must be the poet's original work.
2. 3 minute time limit.
3. No props, costumes or musical instruments.

Candy Royalle is a performance artist and poet who fuses cinematic storytelling, poetry and unique vocal rhythms with confronting, political and heart thumping content. She tackles topics ranging from sexual obsession to social injustice, illuminating the darker areas of the human psyche for her audiences. A festival curator once described Royalle as “an act you remember for years” and the Austin International Poetry Festival Chair stated Candy had “...changed the face of poetry in Austin, forever”. In the eight years since her debut at Sydneyʼs Word-in-Hand poetry night, Royalleʼs career has taken her across both the frontiers of performance art, and the world. Sheʼs captivated audiences internationally, including Spain, the UK and America.

Fury infiltrated the Slamalamadingdong stage 2012, impressing the audience month after month until she earned the title of 2012 Slamalamadingdong Season Runner-Up.

She first fell in love with Ginsberg in the halls of Auckland University. Following this came Pound, Moore, Frost a veritable orgy of poet affairs. Celebrating her one year anniversary with Spoken Word, she returns to the Slamalama stage to queer the air. Poetic mess, the heiress to awkwardness, gentleman and jackanape.
