Christmas is a special time at Bella Union: a time for loving, a time for togetherness, a time for disassembling Christmas carols wholesale and rearranging them in strange Frankenstein shapes.

Just last year, Adam Hills and Ali McGregor gave us their Fairytale Of New York, Geraldine Quinn took Jingle Bells by way of Lily Allen (“Dashing through the snow in an open sleigh ‘cos the filth took away my licence”), The Little Drummer Boy got schooled in soul by Carl Pannuzzo, Eddie Perfect took us to a very Barry White Christmas, and backing band the Bella Fellas bravely attempted to play John Denver’s Rocky Mountain Christmas album in its entirety.

But this year, we won’t be tolerating that level of nonsense. We’ll be pushing up into an entirely new stratosphere of nonsense.

In addition to the traditional carol slaughter, the 2010 Very Bella Christmas program will feature a brand-new hastily-assembled ramshackle pantomime/musical, with a sparkling book by Nick Caddaye (Anarchist Guild Social Committee) and mildly original songs by Casey Bennetto (KEATING!).

Anarchist Guild Social Committee, Rebecca Barnard, Scott Edgar, Steven Gates, Aurora Kurth, Lawrence Leung and Mike McLeish join the Bella Fellas to play their part in perhaps the most traditional Christmas story of all: the night that Joseph and Mary came face-to-face with a Cyberdyne Systems Model T800 Terminator.

Yes, if you’ve ever heard the tale of the Nativity and thought it disappointingly short on killer robots from the future, The Terminativity might just be the Christmas pantomime you’ve been waiting for.

Add it to the usual Very Bella Christmas shenanigans, and what else could you need to gear you up for the big day?

Please Note: The Terminativity contains strobe and hazer effects.
